The captain of the national team, Kiril Despodov, gave an interview to the show "Wake Up" on "Nova TV". Bulgaria's No. 1 footballer talks about various topics from his football career and his personal life.
"I am extremely happy with my life. I don't want to change anything and I don't regret anything. My loved ones and everyone around me are alive and well, I am alive and well, which is the most important thing," began Despodov.
"Hold on, because from tomorrow you will become a man." These were the words of Hristo Stoichkov after a match for the Bulgarian Junior Cup against Black Sea when we were in Litex. I was 15 years old then. I scored two goals and we won the trophy. After the match, Stoichkov entered the dressing room and said that tomorrow I am training with the first team. Hristo Stoichkov is the man who gave me the path in men's football. He pushed me away. We talk about a lot of things with him. He watches us during matches. Not just me, but the other guys he coached at Litex. He keeps saying he's happy for us. Sometimes we think of memories from before. When he talks about it, he is happy," the PAOK striker also revealed.
"From today's point of view, I would say to 15-year-old Kiril Despodov that the road will not be easy, to fight, not to give up and to believe in himself."
We had a training session abroad and there were clovers along the pitch. I looked around and started looking for a four-leaf clover. On the 20th second I found. I kept it, I wished for something, and then it came true and I got the tattoo," Despodov explained.
"I didn't need even one day to adapt to Greece because I visit it often. I like to go to her sea, I also like music and food. I like everything there. With PAOK, we ended the season in the best possible way. It was amazing. A great achievement. Everyone says that this is one of the strongest seasons in Greek football, because you didn't know who would be the champion until the last round," he added.
"From a football point of view, 70-80% of my dreams and goals have come true. I dream of playing in the Champions League and that it will be with a team with which I can feel the emotion of the people and I can be satisfied with who I am done. There are also things I want to achieve. I hope to have children soon. We are supporting each other," concluded Kiril.
