How Excavation activities caused the fall of a Building in Sofia


Excavation activities in the immediate vicinity of a residential block in Pernik caused a landslide. The incident happened last night, alarmed the residents of the building, who are afraid that their block will collapse.


The construction started in January, residents say. Since then, their troubles began. In addition to the fact that the trench was filling with water, and access for their cars was limited due to the construction, there was also a collapse of part of the street on the other side of the trench, as well as a section of the bicycle path passing directly next to it.


In last night's collapse, the residents of the block initially thought it was an earthquake. People fear that the building will collapse.


The institutions were notified about the incident, and the residents of the block were also questioned by the police.


The head of the regional DNSK Vasil Marianov refused information on the grounds that an inquiry should be made in the press center of the headquarters in Sofia.


From there they promised an answer after an inspection is done.


According to unofficial information, after last night's incident, the construction was stopped and an order was issued to strengthen the trench.
